- Starting Over
It’s been seven years since my last actual post here.
That’s… a long time.
I was going to spend a couple hundred words going on about cycles and new beginnings and things like that… but I’ve already done that.
Back in February of 2007, I wrote a bit about Patterns, Cycles, and Choice. (And I touched on it again in August of the same year.) I still think it’s a very important topic. Especially when we find ourselves starting over in some way.
Why? Because every time we start over, we’ve realized that one particular pattern or cycle has ended. This gives us a chance to not repeat it… or to make some adjustments in ourselves before we dive back into it.
Sometimes, while doing that, we’ll realize we’ve just been repeating ourselves.
That’s what I discovered when I sat down to write about cycles. That I was about to just go and repeat myself.
I don’t want to do that.
Not exactly, any way.
If what I’d done before had really worked, it probably wouldn’t have ended. Or, at least, I wouldn’t feel the utter need to start over. I’m not completely the same person I was seven years ago. The world is most certainly different.
A lot has changed.
Over the coming year, I’m going to work to liven this old space up a bit. I’ll revisit some of the core concepts that I think are super important… but I don’t want to repeat myself.
I want to seek out new insights. Things that I missed before. Things that I thought I had right, but, from my current point, I can see that I didn’t.
Now, I’ve tried this before here. If you just go back to some previous entries, you’ll see there were a few false starts at this whole “starting over” thing.
Those happened before the last iteration of my previous cycle had really ended.
It just wasn’t time to start over.
There’s no question for me that now is that time.
So, hopefully you’ll join me on this new iteration–this new cycle–as I choose to do things at least a little differently.
Chances are, you’ll see things that I won’t.
At least that’s what I’m hoping.
(And if you’re really interested in what I’ve done with this whole Metaphysical Monday thing in the past… there’s an archive for that.)
[…] That’s one of the reasons why last week, I kicked off my new attempt by talking about the full-year Tarot spread I did for myself. Because at least then the first post in a year after a long absence wouldn’t be about starting things back up. […]
